Are they really forgiven? Yea!

There is no condemnation for anyone who is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8_1)

Even though the scriptures has made it clear that we are not our past and that we are a new creature, a lot of folks find it hard to believe and to live in the newness that the Lord as granted them due to words and acts of the people around them even in the church of the Lord.

To believers:

We do not get to choose who is worthy of the lord's forgiveness. Because scriptures says:  whosoever call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved(Romans 10_13) The word “w
Whosoever” means any kind of person: harlot, fraudster, pornstar, thief, drug dealer, killer etc. Yep! You are shocked? You should not be. He is interested in that reckless life because that soul matters to him much more than anything else. That is the lost coin; the lost sheep.
Remember he was striped!

Amongst believers, you hear things like “after they have wasted their lives they are now carrying Jesus on their head”
Those that should understand the essence of the blood of Jesus more than anyone else fills  new converts with guilt.
We have forgotten that Jesus love a wasted life. The seemly ugly and battered is the kind of life he is interested in. He is an artist and he loves to show his artistic prowess in such a life by giving beauty for ashes.

When you hear the magnanimity of others sin you feel they are not  worthy of forgiveness because their past was wild and messy and yours might  be  morally acceptable. We forget that God sees sinners the same. There is no big or small sin “All na sin”
There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3_10

The value we place on Jesus's blood is determined by the intensity of our past and the revelation we have if it.   To a prostitute, thief, rapist, abortionist etc. It means diverse things. The thought of been redeemed and set on an eternal trajectory is priceless to them. The parable of the debtor talked about servants who owe their master  and were relieved of their debts. The one who owed more received greater mercy and was more grateful than the rest. His perception of his master changed from that day.

Jesus told the parable of the tax collector and the Pharisee. The supposedly Saint looked to lord with pride on his face. He told the lord about his fleshy act. He paid his tithes and gave to the poor. He felt so worthy and justified by his acts. The tax collector couldn't even look at the lord, instead he  sought for mercy. He went home happier and lighter than the former.(luke 18-14)

We forget that God sees sinners the same. There is no big or small sin “All na sin”
There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3_10
Christ has forgiven them. They have been made justified by his blood. As child of God that has the nature of God treat them with love and kindness just like you do to  a prodigal child. Do not gossip about them when they confide in you about their struggles or make example of them if they aren't fully vocal about their previous life.
Do not damp their happiness by reminding them of how filthy their lives has been. Rather encourage them and cheer them up so that they can press unto the mark for the prize of the high calling.

You should be mindful of the things that God cares about. You have the mind of Christ, act like it!

He was bruised
He was striped
He was crucified
His blood was shed
He died
He is alive, Yea!

Ponder: Psalms 24:3-4 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart
